Known Issues

"Splitting" rows of Text or Graphics

When printing text, a blank line appears halfway down the page, or when printing graphics, blank lines appear within the image.

To solve this, ensure that DIP switches 2 to 11 are set to OFF. Also make sure the printer port is set to SPP or Normal in the Computer's BIOS.

Cannot Print in Windows 98

If you cannot print in Windows 98, make sure that the printer port is set to either SPP, Standard, or Normal in the computer's BIOS.

Prints blank even with new Cartridge

After installing a new cartridge the printer only prints blank pages, or prints a few lines and fades quickly. Typically you need to perform 2-3 head cleanings before printing anything. Also insure the orange tape is removed from the new cartridge.

When printing text files, prints 2 lines on platen before feeding next sheet

This problems arises when printing simple text files from dos where no page end or form feed indication in the file. Set Dipswitch SW #10 ON (Canon BJ-130e mode) or use Epson LQ mode

The reverse button does not work

If a sheet feeder is installed, the reverse feed is disabled.

Notes -

Switch 1 - When you use the optional auto sheet feeder, set the selector 1 to ON.

Switch 2 - When the selector 2 is OFF, the printer prints in a higher density graphics print image (full bit-mapped print). When this switch is on, the printer does not print the odd bits in mapped odd slices or the even bits in mapped even slices.

Switch 3 - When the selector 3 is ON, the printer makes an automatic line feed when receiving a CR code.

Switch 6 - When the selector 6 is ON, the printer makes an automatic carriage return after a line feed is performed.

Switch 7 - When the selector 7 is ON, the printer accepts high resolution 24-dot all point addressable (APA) graphics commands similar to those used with the conventional 24-dot printers.

Switch 9 - When the selector 9 is OFF, the printer is using the USA character font (437). When the selector is ON, the printer prints using the multilingual fonts (850).

Switch 10 - When the selector 10 is OFF (mode 1), the printer emulates IBM X24E control codes. When this selector is ON (mode 2), the printer emulates Canon BJ-130e control codes.
